chm gold has been great, a bit confusing compared to medi-share at first, but worth it.

Excellent support, great value!

I switched to CHM's Gold Program earlier this year and I'm so glad I did! The support I received during my initial questions was fantastic. They really helped me understand how everything works. Their Health Cost Sharing model is such a blessing for my family. The Prayer Support Network is a unique and comforting feature too. I will absolutely continue with them! What a difference!

Got a free month

I was looking for an affordable option and decided on the Silver Program. A friend referred me, so I ended up getting a free month of membership, which was a nice bonus. It definitely made the initial cost feel more manageable. The value for what I pay each month seems good compared to other plans I looked at. It felt worth the purchase, especially with that referral credit.

Smooth experience overall

I enrolled in the Individual Membership and used the Telehealth Access a couple of times. The enrollment process was clear, I filled out the forms online and it didn't take too long. When I needed to use telehealth, it was easy to connect with a provider. My medical bills were processed without much hassle, though it took about three weeks to get everything sorted out. Quality of service was professional. I appreciated the Prescription Discount Program, it saved me some money on my regular meds. No major issues, just a bit of a wait on the bill processing.

Good Gold Program coverage

I signed up for the Gold Program last year. It covered my doctor visits well. The process was straightforward, and I didn't have any issues. Simple and effective.

Easy to sign up

I just joined CHM with my family, got the Family Membership. It was pretty easy to get everything set up online. We were looking for something different than regular insurance and this seemed like a good fit. So far, so good. No big surprises, which is always nice.

Thinking about switching from Medi-Share to CHM. Anyone have experience with both and can say what the main differences are?

D David Hughes 2 months ago
I moved from Medi-Share to CHM a few years back. CHM felt a bit more straightforward with the sharing process, less complicated rules. Also liked the options for lower monthly costs with the different programs.

Medi-Share has slightly different rules, often more focused on a single large 'Annual Household Portion'. CHM has the 'Personal Responsibility' per incident. They both work, but the financial structure is a key difference. I think CHM also has more flexibility with provider choice.

Can I use a promo code when signing up? I saw something online but not sure if it applies.

F Faith 1 month ago
Nah, they don't do promo codes like a regular online store. It's all about the referral program for discounts.

No promo codes, man. Your best bet for a discount is if an existing member refers you, or if you refer someone else later on.

How long does the maternity waiting period usually last? Planning for a family soon, so this is pretty important.

L Laura Silva 1 month ago
I think it's usually 6 months from when you join. You'd want to confirm that for sure, but that's what I remember.

From what I recall, it's 6 months if you're already a member. If you're joining specifically for maternity, you need to sign up well in advance. Check their official maternity program details though, always best to be sure.

Is it possible to get a discount for paying for the year upfront instead of monthly?

S Shane 1 month ago
I don't think they offer a discount for paying annually. Most healthshares don't, it's usually a flat monthly fee.

D Derek 1 month ago
Nah, I've never seen an annual payment discount from them. It's usually just the referral credits or the group enrollment savings that get you a lower contribution.

I'm looking at Gold vs Silver. Is the personal responsibility amount for Gold really that much lower? Trying to figure out the actual cost difference.

R Renee Okafor 1 month ago
Gold definitely has a lower personal responsibility. That's a big part of why it costs more each month, but you pay less out of pocket before sharing kicks in.

A Anna 1 month ago
Yeah, the Gold personal responsibility is lower, so you hit the sharing threshold faster. If you anticipate more medical needs, that's usually the way to go.
